The Danish company SmokeSolution has established a joint venture with Hatil Complex Ltd, a local Bangladeshi partner. The JV will produce smoke cabins in Bangladesh and yesterday an agreement was signed with the Danida B2B Programme for financial support for the project to carrying out technical training and implementation of CSR activities. An approval ceremony took place at the Danish Embassy where all partners signed the agreement.

SmokeSolution has since 2003 produced Smoke Cabins for primarily the European markets. Smoke cabins are a relatively new phenomenon, where the purpose of the cabins is to filtrate and purify the smoke especially coming from cigarettes. The demand for SmokeSolution such as smoke cabins has been growing as more and more countries are implementing smoking cabins.

The project completed its pilot phase trial during December 2009 with a very positive result where 10 employees were trained for assembling the cabins. Now the plan is to operate in industrial scale where the project will be able to export more than 200 smoke cabins per months to Europe and Asia. During the project phase, the JV will recruit more people. All new staff will be put through a rigorous training programme combining class courses and on-the-job training in order to ensure a high level of technical skill as well as awareness of safety issues.

Furthermore, great emphasis is put on the social impact of the project. Hatil and SmokeSolution will provide night school for all employees who cannot read or write. Medical coverage will be established for all employees and the two partners will also support the education of children of the employees - buy financing part of their education.
