Smoke Solution’s joint venture with Hatil Complex Ltd is to receive funds from a Danida B2B Program to cover technical training and implementation of CSR activities in the production of eco-friendly smoke cabins. An approval ceremony took place at the Danish Embassy where all partners signed the agreement.

Smoke Solution has been producing eco-friendly smoke cabins since 2004, primarily for the European market. Smoke cabins are a relatively new phenomenon designed to filtrate and purify the smoke from cigarettes. Demand for smoke cabins has been growing as more and more countries implement smoking bans.

The project’s pilot phase trial in December 2009 equipped a workforce of 10 employees with the training required to assemble the cabins. The plan is now to scale up production and export more than 200 smoke cabins per month to Europe and Asia. All Hatil Complex employees will complete a rigorous training programme that combines theory with on-the-job training to ensure a high level of technical skills and safety awareness.

With a focus on corporate social responsibility, Hatil Complex and Smoke Solution will be establishing a night school for employees wishing to improve their basic literacy skills. All employees will receive medical coverage, and the two partners have undertaken to help subsidise schooling for the employees’ children.
