How to work from home – comfortably

Posted on In Articles

Working from home (WFH) can also mean working from bed (WFB) for those people who prefer the coziness and comfortable setup. Working from bed, on the other hand, may seem to be a pleasant option, but did you know that it may actually affect your productivity and cause serious health problems?

Working from bed reduces sleep efficiency, which has a significant negative impact on work success, energy, and overall quality of life.

Working from bed will cause back pain, unstructured spine, and other ergonomic issues that you might not see right now, but will in the future. This problem is caused not only by lying down, but also by sedentary habits.

In that scenario, we have some suggestions for staying creative when working from home.

1. Maintain a healthy posture.

You may not need to have a fancy work table and chair; any table that is convenient for you to work at would help.

2. Stretch your body every 90 minutes

When you’re busy, you don’t shift almost as much as you do when you’re not. Stretching or exercising for 5-10 minutes every 90 minutes will help the body relax and stay fit.

3. Do not forget your eyes!

Try this exercise to reduce the chances of dry eyes when using the computer: blink 10 times every 20 minutes while shutting your eyes as if you were falling asleep (very slowly).

4. Allow light to fill your room.

Light has an impact on how well you work and how productive you are. In more high-pressured work settings, poor lighting is linked to a variety of physical and mental health problems, including eye strain, headaches, nausea, tension, and anxiety.

 5. Alter your clothing.

When we work from home, our clothes have a major psychological effect on our inspiration. Dressing too lightly, according to Dr. Karen Pine, a psychology professor at the University of Hertfordshire, will make us less concentrated and alert. You are free to relax. Simply put on something that tells the brain it’s time to get to work.

There are far more suggestions for working from home in a safe and comfortable manner but these are the essential. Remember, you can always lay down in your bed for a short period of time, but only for a few hours, to avoid a lazy mood and for the sake of your health.
